So last night and today the ac is blowing room temperature air. I checked the filter, air flow seems cooler in there and there's a lot of condensation. I probably need to call someone in WDM to come take a look. Any tips or referrals?

Sounds like the A coil is frozen up turn on the fan and not the A/C. After a couple of hours the coil should be thawed out and then you can turn the air back on. You might also need to clean the coil that is in the house as well.

What he said. If that all fails you likely have a refrigerant leak.

If the coil isn't frozen, you might have a faulty compressor or refrigerant issues (leak). I would definitely check the coil first. If that doesn't do it, I'd call who ever installed the system. Schaal came out to my place to fix a similar problem and it still doesn't work so I wouldn't recommend them.

We had a refrigerant leak on a 5 year old system, Schaal charged $262 to recharge it, they claimed over the phone they would have to fix the leak and it would be cheaper to get a new system but it they agreed to a recharge when here...it has worked fine since but I would not reccommend them either based on how they handled it

I did turn it off for about an hour or so, will try to leave it longer and dig into the coils as well. At least I know who to avoid, hah.

Another AC question...i get a different answer all the time it seems. is it better to leave the Fan ON or on AUTO?

You don't really need to have your fan on all the time when your A/C is on. Its actually something you can use when your basement is cool but your main floor is a little warm but you don't have the A/C on. It will pretty much just get the cooler air from your basement upstairs as long as you have a return in the basement.(which if you dont have one right before the return goes to the furnace you should put a vent you can close in ASAP) If you have it on all the time with the A/C you are just making your electric bill higher than it needs to be.

The coil being frozen can happen when the fan isn't running but the compressor is running. This usually happens when the relay outside by the condensing unit freezes in the "on" position. Go outside and see if the compressor is running even when the unit is switched to "off" from cool. If it is still running, that is bad and your coil will freeze up and eventually could break open and spill your charge.

There should be a breaker panel near the condensing unit. Just switch it to off to turn off the compressor until service can be done.

So I left the fan on, AC off last night and it cleared out any semblance of coolness and wetness through the air flow, but no cool air yet. On to the coils and I'll take the advice to check outside as well.

Freon was way low, so that's fixed. Now I have to hope it doesn't drop again and pay for a leak check.

Refilling without repairing is pointless. It is supposed to be a sealed system. If refrigerant leaked once, it'll do the same again unless something has changed.
