What will be the big Thanskgiving game for Nebby now or the Big 12?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I would not bet that we will ever see UT in Ames after 11/1.
Not that we've had that bad of weather in early November recently.

Not that we've had that bad of weather in early November recently. If we can conjure up a tornado vs. Colorado, then absolutely snow can fall on those 6 in late October / early November!

I still remember one year ISU upset a ranked OSU team in the snow in the 80's. They were hapless in the cold weather.

Yeah, if these guys are going to play in places like Chicago and Green Bay in the NFL they should have to play in cold weather during college.

I hardly think walking between classes in the cold will harden them enough for a clear advantage in cold weather. We do practice indoor ya know.. and our roster is usually over 1/3 players from warm climate.
The only way this works is the Bud Grant method of practicing outdoors in short sleeves. Otherwise it's just one cold team playing another cold team.

I think you'd be surprised how much just existing in the cold for a prolonged period of time helps. I know so many people at school here from the south who used to just die when winter came around, and now they've gotten used to it. It can be a pretty big shock to the system for guys who have been existing in 60-70 degree winters when they come in to 10 degrees. It may be the same for freshmen/Jucos, but those Juniors/Seniors will have a distinct advantage.

I'll believe that Texas, Texas A&M, and the Okie's are going to play in cold weather when I see them penciled in on the schedule.

Your body actually does adjust. Just look at the fall, that first big temp drop from 70s and 80s, windy 50 degree game day is hell to try and stay warm. Reverse that and think of the first 50 degree day in the spring. In fall I'm usually bundled up with gloves on to hold my beer for the first 50 degree game. In the spring, when it hits 50, I'm usually wearing shorts.

The conference will just stipulate that the schedules be reversed - all conference games played first and then nonconference games can take place in November. That solves all problems of playing in cold weather.

well its not like they can make us play every south team in the first half of the b12 season..but they'll probably send baylor to us in november and ut as the b12 opener..

Re: Southern teams should at least have to play cold weather games now!
Logistically it's impossible that the four Texas schools and both Okie schools avoid playing up north in November however I would almost bet that Texas will not be one of those that has too. Here's Texas' schedule...
3 out of conference games
ISU, Mizzou, KSU, KU and the Red River Shootout in late Sept/ early Oct.
The rest in November.
Watch it man there's a beverage here!
