help with iphone app

Our company has been developing web based applications for years, but we just recently started learning to develop apps for the iphone / ipad.

I am looking for suggestions on an app that we could develop to get our feet wet. It is easier to test things out if there is a goal in mind and thought I would see if any of you had something you thought would be useful as an iphone app.

I've considered doing dev on a dog boarding business app. The one we go to is all manual for tracking food, poop breaks, etc. An app to record and possibly email clients would be cool for them I think. Easier to synch or computerize I'd think as well.
