Mediacom
Has anyone been having problems with mediacom cable lately? It seems like every time i return from my apartment to my parents house it is having problems. Supposedly a technician came in today and fixed it but I ak not hearing any sound now. All I want to do is watch some tv and these so called technicians seem like they couldn't do anything that requires half of a brain

I asked if they knew mine was located indoors and they said they were aware of this.
I said that it was rotten luck that it hit the modem and not a shoe or something that would have been less effected by a lightening bolt.

Sometimes a show will pixelate (spelling?) and then completely freeze up. I have also had times where the audio is like 1 or 2 seconds off from the video. I think we are going to switch to Directv or Dish real soon.

Good time to do it, DTV is offering free HD for life for new customers.

Get DirecTv. I've been a customer for about eight years and wouldn't dream of going back to mediacom.

When we were at a meeting at IPTV a few weeks ago, we were told that's a problem with the channels that "cheat" on bandwidth. So, whether it's also a provider problem, I'm not sure. I've noticed it quite a bit on HGTV recently, but not all channels.

When I saw that commercial, the first thing I thought of was, "How long will be it before everybody has/provides HD making it a commodity rather than a specialty, and no one has to pay extra for it?"

They are now offering whole house viewing. So if you record a show on 1 dvr, you can watch it on another. I love this feature. They use the cable wires as a network, so you don't even have to wire up Ethernet anymore.

Re: Mediacom
We have DISH and have been happy with them for the past 3 yrs after I finally told Mediacom to go screw themselves after being with them for 12 yrs prior. Will never have mediasuck again.

Re: Mediacom
I pulled the trigger earlier this week, with how inexpensive it was to add the whole home DVR, the free HD for life, and mediacom's rate increases it was time.
Mediacom advertised their whole home dvr and I asked them what the cost was and was told $16.95 ( regular DVR service is $10.95) then the second box was going to cost another $10 per month also.
With the deal I signed up for it will still be cheaper than mediacom even after the promo's end.
Have not decided what I am going to do with the internet yet, but I may end up staying with mediacom for that.

Re: Mediacom
Sometimes my connection will go screwy for a time and then is restored. I have noticed storms being a very common stimulus, although at times the connection will go down on a bright and sunny day.
