When I go to the East Coast (NYC-Jersey), I can't wait to get to a real deli and get an authentic bagel. I am refering to the tuff crust on the outside and heavy, chewy, moist on the inside kind. Not what I most unfortunately find in SW Ia. grocery chain bakery/deli's. Are there any good bagels in Des Moines (Golden Circle)?

You'll be hard pressed to find a bagel as good as those out east. Most people believe it is the water on the east coast that makes the difference.Quote:

I lived near DC for 2 years and I agree that bagels on the East Coast rock!! Not even Bruegers is close to a good East Coast Bagel. The other things that are great is the seafood and pastrami deli sanwiches. (There were lots of great jewish delis nearby.)
