Re: Cyclone Weddings
Well, you could steal what my wife and I did, but we maintain patent rights. Get a tent (or reserve an area) and make the tailgate your "Rehearsal Dinner" for the Wedding. Make sure you get tickets (you don't need to buy them, but have a means for getting some) for in-laws and parents and whoever else you have at your "Rehearsal Dinner" so all can attend the game. Next, schedule the Wedding/Wedding Reception for the next day in Ames. You will need to find a place for the wedding and reception (we got married outside in a park and had reception at Hickory Hall), but, depending upon how soon you start looking, you might even be able to pull something off still this year. Worked out very well for us and many friends and relatives came to the game and then we had more fun the next day with the wedding and reception. People may need to take a long weekend to enjoy everything, but I didn't hear any complaints (lots of jealousy from guys over how I talked my wife into the "Rehearsal Dinner" - but no complaints). If your wife enjoys ISU Football games as much as my wife, then this really works well. Good Luck!!! "Wanting it doesn't make it so. If it did, we'd all learn to want harder. I can already want quite vigorously, thank you very much." - Walter Slovotsky -

We didn't use it, but we did have the ISU FB game (away, untelevised) on the limo stereo. We had to stop and get more beverages for the bridal party because we weren't going to get out until the Cyclones had finished off the victory! Unfortunately, the team couldn't quite get over the hump.
For the OP - you could have your reception in the lobby at Scheman. What could be more Cyclone than to be in the shadow of Hilton and have JTS as a backdrop for the headtable? It worked out great for us.

Hopefully you did not run into the goal post while entering the reception. :-)

Re: Cyclone Weddings
You could have crappy speakers blast an entrance song while everyone jingles their keys.
You could have FlagGuy run around the place waving the 'ol Cardinal and Gold.
You could have Sweet Caroline play for the last dance.
You could ditch the cake and get one of those Twister Ice cream cone machines.
You could also do walking taco's as the dinner.

we're getting married in the heart of hawkeye country, but we're forcing all the servers at our reception to wear cyclone garb. it's going to be wonderful. -

Edit: If it were the other way around, I would have to seriously consider quitting my job rather than sport a tigerhawk.

Re: Cyclone Weddings
I had a groom's cake at our reception with Cy on it.

Re: Cyclone Weddings
When you're giving the vows make sure you work in fact that you are so proud to be her husband and repeat that you are so proud to be her husband on the point of shouting. Then proceed to huddle in a group with the rest of the wedding party jumping around while signing the fight song. Hopefully somebody was smart enough to bring champagne so that could be spraying while the group is singing.

Re: Cyclone Weddings
Our friends left the auditorium to the fightsong. They had other decorations too.
On the athlectic website I had found a wedding picture of Cy with a bride and groom. I really thought that was a great idea!

Re: Cyclone Weddings
I am thinking about getting a Mr and Mrs Cy for the top of our wedding cake instead of the groom and bride.
