Re: Tom Petty
Just got his new cd, but have only listened to two songs so far. Kinda folksy, but everything takes a while to catch on with me.
I take it he's in concert tonight?

Re: Tom Petty
******* awesome show. Drive-By Truckers brought the house down, and forced TPATH to bring their "A" game. Which they did. Mike Campbell slayed the guitar last night. The Heartbreakers rocked really hard. Great show.

I was told Petty was a bit of let down, but they were as good as I've always imagined, if not better. I really wanted to hear "Honey Bee", though.

I take it he's in concert tonight? It is a little folksy, but not bad. It was sort of like Mudcruches ablum.

Re: Tom Petty
How long did DBT play? I'm considering a drive South in September to see them again. Although I don't know if my old self can take another 7 1/2 minute version of Buttholeville.

DBT played for about an hour, Petty just short of 2. Originally Posted by RustyClone How long did DBT play? I'm considering a drive South in September to see them again. Especially if it's followed by a cover of People Who Died.

They ended with it and came back for 4 more for the encore. Also played Perfect Timing for only the 11th time ever. Closed it down with Zip City and Let There Be Rock. I had two people tell me after the show that you have to see them in the South. Apparently it is totally different, no holds barred kind of action.

I'd go south to see them in The Shoals or Athens, but honestly, based off the shows I've personally witnessed (all in Iowa or Nebraska), and DVDs/boots of performances in the South, I'm not sure there's a big difference, except for maybe a propensity to break out some really rare stuff, like "The Hard Sell".
