Help with bug ID

I have lived in my current house for almost 12 years and have never had this type of bug before. I was wondering if anyone else has these and also how I can get rid of them. At least they are slow. They are about 1/2" long.

I've always wondered if it hurts to get pinched by one of those things. I see them sometimes with those pinchers open and ready to snap, anybody ever been pinched by one?

Also they are commonly found around stucco. They'll be around through September.

I got "pinched" by a bug that looked just like that, however Im not sure if it was the same thing.....I was digging in a box and next thing you know I had a sharp pain in my finger and it hurt like hell. I dumped the box out and it was just like that but I think it was all black.

Good to know, I am usually tempted to have them pinch me on purpose just out of curiosity. Now, I don't think I will.

Was it like this one? I think these things come in different colors.

We're dealing with earwigs right now, too. I need to get back out there and put down some of the stuff around the outside of the house to try to stop them. I thought I had read that the pincers on the earwigs don't actually do anything. Not certain on that, I guess.

We have the same issue at our house. I went to Earl May yesterday and they sold me a spray that's simply called Household Insect Control. I sprayed it across the bottom of the front and back doors and a few other places where they might be getting in the house. It seems to be working, but it's too early to know for sure.
