Steve Carell leaves The Office
Dang...this could spell the end of that show.
He did it for a long time anyway (that's what she said). Steve Carell Confirms He's Leaving The Office—but Show May Go On - E! Online Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. -
Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
There's no way they'll go on with the show after he leaves

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
Thats ok honestly. I like the show but its run its course.

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
I hope the show doesn't go on without him. It already has been on the decline for the last 2 seasons. I think if they make this the last season they could really do something great with the story lines.

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
This has been known for a while. Bring back Holly, get Michael/Holly together, and end the series on a high note. The office needs to end. They have no direction with the Jim/Pam relationship exhausted.

Unfortunately, there's more 'safe' money to be made with it slowly dieing...

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
Honestly... ive not liked the Michael character on the show for awhile. The best characters have been everyone but his. So... if they could find some direction for the show, i'd be good with keeping it going, but on the other hand, if they cant, kill it off.

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
I can't wait for him to leave his stuff is getting tiredsome. The show badly needs to move in a new direction

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
I like the show now as much as ever. There was one bad year in there. I hope they get someone good to replace him and it remains funny.

Re: Steve Carell leaves The Office
They should do a movie. They could make it about software engineers instead of a paper company. They could bring in consultants and let some of the staff go, have a funny guy with a stapler, another guy who is trying to invent games. The main characters could get into trouble trying to do something really smart with a compiling program, and they could go beat the crap out of a copy machine.........

From the few shows I've seen lately, his character has moved from funny-oblivious to funny-mean. Just doesn't seem to fit with the way his character was developed.

I don't really think the show is that much like Office Space.

I'd say more like funny-oblivious to funny-completely pathetic, but I agree, they have strayed from what the original character was over-time, but that happens with any long established show. If anything I think they've avoided (for the most part) the trap of turning all the characters on a show into caricatures of little quirks they had when the show started.
