River Tubing around Des Moines - Where to go?
Looking for some options for launching/ending for river tubing around Des Moines. Any suggestions?
How about this weekend with the water levels?

Not sure, but as high as the water is, and for as much "stuff" that will be flowing along with it - it doesn't sound like much fun.

I wouldnt recommend it, water levels are way to high and the current is way to fast. i would probably wait a few weeks

Probably don't want to do any tubing this weekend. All of the rivers are going to be exptremely high and moving fast. You'd be holding on for dear life and probably end up in a corn field someplace.

Eldora has Rock & Row tubing on the Iowa River. But I think they are closed this weekend due to the High water levels, so I would reccomend staying off the river.

Put in at Saylorville, wait a couple days and then go over the Emergency Spillway, down to Des Moines.
Seriously, rivers are above flood stage, you don't tube right now unless your crazy.

There won't be any safe tubing around here for several weeks. Go to Apple River.

Squaw creek in ames. We are thinking of doing it this weekend. Usually its pretty low and we would get grounded alot, but with the water up (and not dangerously high) we shouldn't get grounded and will move along at a decent pace too.

I was thinking of this as well. Some of the smaller rivers are already on the way down. I would reccomend calling ahead not matter where you go and check with the people that run the tubing rental etc. They will know whether or not the trip is safe (for the most part) or if water levels are too high.

Has anyone checked with Seven Oaks to see if they are planning on running?
