Re: New "Harry Potter" trailer...
Cannot wait. I'm glad they are doing it in two movies because there is so much going on in the last book!

HP has done incredibly well as movies. I like the movies because they show a more complete picture with details. I just prefer the books for the complete story.

Looks like the next two movies will be great to awesome! I've always like the Potter series movies; always well directed with excellent to stunning visual effects.

I do like the 6th one quite a bit, a little dark and "the calm before the storm" feel.

Wow, I did not expect to say this, but that looks freaking awesome. I don't generally get too excited over movies, and I rarely shell out the cash to go see them, but this is going to be a must-see for me. Plus, then I'll know what my students are talking about and they won't ruin it for me!
I agree with an earlier poster- it's weird that I've spent over a decade reading and watching these stories. Calling it the "movie event of a generation" is actually a pretty solid claim- this is the Millennial Generation's version of "Star Wars".

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Plus, the 4th was the first book with really a compelling story to movie the series along and bring everything together. Before that, the movies almost had to follow the book as there just wasn't much to put in to begin with.
The 6th seems to cut a lot of crucial information out - can't recall it all right now, but some important stuff. Especially at the very end - oh how I hated that ending. Very anticlimactic compared to what the book brought forth.
The 5th has been my most enjoyable regarding the book and movie. Not everything was explained as well, but it seemed to follow it all close enough that one could enjoy both just as equal.

I really wished they would have kept 3D out of it.

This very particular scene in the movie is what bothered me to no extent.
Harry under the tower hiding while Dumbledore and Belletrax where above. Snape comes up the stair case, spots Harry, and holds a finger to his mouth to tell Harry to keep quiet, then proceeds up the stair to above.
The whole thing with the book 6 and into 7 was to make Snape look suspicious...where that scene in that movie almost does the opposite - and besides the fact that it never happened in the book.
Yeah, and the Pensieve scenes do help explain more of this history, but they did touch the important ones.
