Ames: Welch Ave
Des Moines: Royal Mile/Red Monk is my fav, but also have soft spot for Shortys, The Lift, and the bar at Azalea Azalea is my favorite restaurant in DM.... I just wish they would stop changing the menu. Also Shortys would have been top 5 for me but I hate how they have remodeled...I think it kinda sucks now.

Re: Favorite Bar
i cant really pick one but capones, cy's roost, and welch in no order
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

5:Blue Moon Good call on CABCo. I don't get there as often as I should, considering I'm a mug club member. They would rock so much harder if they had more TVs at the bar and had dish.

Re: Favorite Bar
I like small town joints so my favorite in the metro is Kiegens Korner (AKA Tim's Timeout) in Grimes.
Red Monk and the rest of the bars by full court or whatever their name is are my favorites in DM.

They try to keep it a casual chill place and not a sports bar which is understandable. Ive seen a few people (SuperFan if you frequent dt youll know who this is haha) get kicked out for being to loud while cheering haha!

Re: Favorite Bar
ISU days ... Tazzles - drinkin' with lincoln, need I say more! ... It was the first and only bar I got into before turning 21, halloween 1996 - I was so drunk that I thought the bar was twice as big as it actually was (mirrors man, it was the mirrors LOL) I also ran into Coach Kirby Wilson in vampire costume and thought he was a white guy - I was asked to leave after drinking beer from pitchers (that weren't mine) Cy's Roost had double captain & cokes on wednesdays I think - a great black and tan upstairs too, what was that place called? ... Lived a few blocks from Thumbs, never know who you would see in there ... People's music was good, but the place was way too greek for me ... I never really got into penny pitchers at The Zone downtown, that was just too much for me or I just got too old ... I also can't remember the place downtown that closed not too long ago that I enjoyed, and we did Whiskey River once in a while ... there was that country bar out by 30, but Thursdays at Tazzles were sacred during my time ... these days I usually hit Welch Ave. Station or go out to Wallaby's if I have my kids with me
After ISU ... Falls Sports Lounge - Dearborn, Michigan "Ownership included former NHL players Jim Cummins and Chris Chelios, Red Wings and opposing players in there regularly - they also sponsored my flag football team ... great burgers" Blue Jeans Bar & Grill - Mishawaka, Indiana "As good of a honky tonk as you could have in northern Indiana, used to go to karaoke night there every week - ownership change killed it just before we moved" KC's Eastside Saloon - Ashland, Nebraska "Again I know the owners and love karaoke night - I've discovered a theme of my oldness" I'm on twitter @mookjnsn ... me, not her. -

Same can be said about The Wave these days. Depending on the night, it can get pretty strange in there. Ever seen "From Dusk Till Dawn"?
