I remember seeing Vroman in there all the time, sucking down a full pack of Camels mid season. I had a convo about prison life with Berryman there.

I also got a chance to meet Berryman, he had shown up to my house for a party randomly one night. He then showed up back at the house the next afternoon trying to explain to me that he had lost a set of gold teeth at the house the night before. The next 45-60 minutes of tearing my house apart with Berryman looking for his set of gold was filled with him just spouting off with complete hilarious nonsence.

Re: Favorite Bar
When I was in Ames, Welch Ave. Station was the best place to catch NFL and college games when we were on the road. Great memories of watching my Packers there. I also loved Olde Main, especially on Wednesday's for buck beer night. Quality beer for way cheap. I also was a fan of Element, at least for F.A.C. and the progressive pitchers they had.
DM: loved High Life and Hessen House, reminded me so much of growing up in Wisconsin and visiting Das Hessen House in Madison.
As for my current hometown of Green Bay, I gotta go with Titletown Brewing Co. and The Bar for awesome Packer tailgates and great sports coverage.

Re: Favorite Bar
Apologies for those outside of Des Moines on all the DM bar recommendations (i.e.…sometimes it must seem like this forum is an ISU grads who graduated & settled in DM site). I just want to say it is nice to see the lovin' for bars downtown. IMO nothing says a city sucks more so than polling people to find out the "hot spots" in said metro only to find out they are all located in suburbia.
