HWY 30
In relation to a previous thread, I've got friends coming to Ames this weekend, and didn't know if Hwy 30 was 4 lanes between Marshalltown and Boone yet? I know they were doing construction earlier in the year, but hadn't drove by to see if progress has been made. Anyone have a clue when that is supposed to be complete? Thanks in advance!

You might check the Iowa DOT website.

It is not finished yet. Although they have quite a bit done. I root for ISU ( ) and anyone playing the huskers ( ) -
Re: HWY 30
They have at least two lanes. Is that enough?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

HWY 30 is still 2 lanes from the 330 exchange west to Colo. They are working on that stretch right now. Colo to State Center will be done later this year (much of the concrete has been laid). State Center to HWY 330 exchange will be finished next year.

Here is the link to the DOT's projects from 2011-2015. The Marshall county stuff is on page 84. They just have fencing and erosion control listed in 2011, so I would guess everthing else is scheduled to be done this year. http://www.iowadot.gov/program_manag..._2011-2015.pdf -

Re: HWY 30
For people traveling between Cedar Rapids and Tama on 30 there is alot of construction going on right now.
They are resurfacing the washboard surface ( which is all partially done so the washboard is gone)
But they have 1 lay closed in different area's as they move along during the day. So expect delays.

Looking forward to when it's finally 4 lanes from Colo to Tama -

The next stretch is Hwy 21 to US218, which is going to be in 2014 and 2015. Am I correct in thinking that once that is done, the only two lane hwy between CR and Ames will be an approximately 15 mile stretch between Hwy 21 (Irving) and Tama?
