Anyone else tired of Highway 17 detour?
I'm in Granger quite a bit, but live in Ames. Sometimes I'll go through Polk City, other times through Woodward. Either way just feels out of the way. I'm going to start Oregon Trailing the river and caulk my Explorer and hope Tommy doesn't fall out.

The worst part is that R38 is closed at Ames. Really forces drivers to zig-zag to get from Ames to Polk City and West Des Moines.

Exactly, you'd think the state and the county would get together and compare schedules. They did the same thing when they first closed R38 and Hwy 69 had a detour through Huxley. It wasn't far out of the way, but you'd think that the detour from R38 wouldn't have a detour of its own.
