Grad party gift
I am going to a graduation party tomorrow for one of my friends' parents who is graduating from University of Phoenix. I am pretty close with my friends' dad so its more like I have a friend graduating. My question is, what is the appropriate gift for someone in their late 40's graduating from an online University. Would it be the same as any other grad party, 20 bucks and a card? Case of beer? Has anyone been in this situation before?

Re: Grad party gift
I'm graduating from an online program in December and in my late 30s. I am not expecting to even have a party, let alone get gifts. I'd be thrilled with a case of beer, frankly.
I'm probably going to celebrate by ordering a pizza and drinking some brews by myself.

A card asking why they got a degree from the University of Phoenix? I mean, not that employers see that on a resume and throw it away or anything...

Re: Grad party gift
His current employer actually started to require a degree to be in the position he was already in, so the helped him pay for it

And most people throw away the validity of any comments from a Vikings/Yankees fan.

Really? What's the difference between getting it there or BV online or Upper Iowa online?
I think I'd look into something like U of P before taking a class in a hotel conference room in Ankeny once a week because William Penn doesn't have any other place to meet. That's not a knock on William Penn's program, btw.

I do however have a Masters from UoP and am gainfully employed.
