overheard the guy selling sweet corn out of a truck at the downtown Farmer's mkt this morning...he wasn't Grimes, (Carlisle...I believe) commenting that the moister is the reason for the wormes (believe he said corn boars)...said nothin' they can do about it.
I just bought my first Grimes sweet corn of the year. IMO it was really tasty. Small ears (due to being early), and worms at the top of every ear (no big deal, just cut that off). I buy my corn from the same guy every years. Grimes at the corner of 86th and Meredith in Urbandale in the Bank of America parking lot. Always good and can't wait to get more.
"Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you."
You'll have to bring that up with the vendor. I know he's been at the downtown Farmer's Mkt for years...and that is not an easy gig to get into (i.e....he's got to be doing some pretty good volume every year). I'm sure he's aware of the available pest control options. He didn't look Amish and he also didn't have an "organically grown" sign anywhere...at least that I could see.
