Because i'm against these i'm somehow near 'over the edge?' got it. Anyone against government further intruding into our daily lives is somehow an unstable person ready to explode.

But you plan on complaining about it until the 1st of Forever.
Again, in the long run, you will be OK.
In the grand scheme of things, you are a speck of dust. These cameras are even more meaningless.
Go with the big picture.
I'm drinking, and I suggest you start now.

The problem I have with cameras is there isn't room for extenuating circumstances, especially on the red light ones. What if the sign was obscured (when making a turn on red)? It was rainy? etc. Pretty much: we got you on tape, now give us our money. The fact that it isn't something for your record but just a fine enforces that thought.

My side of the story is that the 'law' is set way too low, and theres very much a conflict of interest with the local government that sets the limits also being the one that reaps the benefits of having that limit set too low.

If a camera is not at a red light intersection, then it is OK to run through a red? If you are worried, brake when you see a yellow instead of speeding up. It really is not that difficult of a concept. Laws are set - whether you feel they are fair or not (not directed at you with that last statement Linden - just for all of the folks that think speed limits are too low or whatever). It is our duty to follow these laws or be subject to fine.
I think 20oz Cokes are overpriced at 1.50 in convenience stores. If I pay the store 1.25 and walk out, I'll be stopped and catch grief over it. I think the price is too high, but 1.50 is the posted price. Similar concept.

I'm drinking, and I suggest you start now. 65-80 bucks a time is hardly meaningless. Im sorry that you are 'above' the rest of us on this board. In the 'grand scheme' a lot of things are meaningless. Just about everything talked about on this board is meaningless in that context. But you choose to come in here and say 'your view is meaningless in the grand scheme'.

I do hope that less people run reds because of the cameras, and no one should be running them to begin with, but I feel a lot of this is just about money.
I think one of the major issues I have is the shortening of yellow lights to "catch" more people. I am all for more safety. I drive in Chicago; I see a lot of bad driving.
