Alternatives to KXNO
Given all the griping about the "talent" at KXNO. Perhaps this thread will be handy to the lost and broken-hearted. There are other things to listen to! I posted this in another thread: If you would like an alternative give this guy a listen - Don Geronimo in Sacramento: Don*Geronimo Sports 1140 KHTK
He's not sports talk, but is pretty funny - which is great and refreshing if you want to wash the KXNO out of your ears. If you spent anytime on the east coast, you may recognize him as part of the syndicated "Don & Mike" show out of DC. He is on from 2 - 6 central time. Give it a week or two. Just found him again yesterday (he took a few years off since his wife was killed in a tragic, tragic car wreck) and doubt I'll go back to KXNO until they take out the trash.
If you have other suggestions - post 'em here! Otherwise, PLEASE listen to KXNO at your own risk AND try to keep this site clear of KXNO threads from here on out! If you have XM or Sirrius, Gottlieb on ESPN does a good job.
I don't have much trouble with the show Jon and Deace put on in the AM - although I don't get to listen too often.

810 in KC is good. All Big 12 talk, all the time.

Well I only have 3 I really listen too, but still a lot of talk time to eat up.

Re: Alternatives to KXNO
Its that time of the year that the local sports scene is slow so everyone has a gripe it seems like. Wait till football starts and then it starts getting interesting again. I think some of you here are a little too biased at times, if anyone says 1 bad or unfavorable thing about our precious Cyclones you get your panties in a bundle and up your crack and all the sudden every talk show in Iowa is anti-ISU. I don't want someone always tooting the Cyclone horn and always hyping us up because if you put our programs into a national scene perspective most people here put ISU up on a pedestal like everyone should be jumping on the bandwagon or something or that things aren't always as bad as they seem. Until we start winning consistently and beat the bigger programs in the big picture we don't really have a lot of room to be attacking anyone that isn't 100% "rah-rah" for ISU no matter what. If you want that then give Chris his own show and I'm sure everyone would tune into it but after awhile I think I would grow old of it if you don't allow for some criticism and questioning once in awhile from someone that doesn't have a dog in the fight and looks at things from a non-Cyclone biased perspective.
Personally the only local personality I can't stand is Tirrell because he's just an idiot and at times a complete butt kisser too. He's burned his bridges here and I haven't missed him one bit since he moved to 1700. I don't get all the hate for Perrault really, so he doesn't always drink the Cyclone kool-aid like some here seem to think he has to do. He's new to the area, he's just telling it like it is from a national perspective IMO. He's piled on the Hawkeyes at times too so I'd say he's an "equal opportunity" critic/hater/whatever you want to call him. It wouldn't be good talk radio if every personality had nothing but positive and hyped up views on our local teams. Bottom line is our programs need to start winning meaningful games and guys like him will shut up and start talking us up like you want him to.

Re: Alternatives to KXNO
I really like listening to Bill King on Rivals radio in morning. it is Sirius channel 122. He is mostly a big program guy and tends to spend a larger amount of time on Southern schools, but he does a good job.
He made a disparaging comment about Ames one day when discussing travel among the new Big XII, but I can get past that.
Also, has anyone every listened to that idiot Paul Finebaum? He is on Rivals radio in the afternoon (4pm) on Sirius 122. Man, that guy knows nothing outside of Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU.

Re: Alternatives to KXNO
I like 810, but I like the Royals and Chiefs. They also have a ton of commercials, best to have other stations to flip to when listening to them.
