Which is weird, because when I lived there I felt it was worse. Although I will say there is alot more outdoor activity in Wisco than in Iowa....opportunities anyway. I have an uncle who lives in Denver and talks about how when he lived here he wasnt all that active. When you live in a place like Denver, you just want to get out and do stuff. Mountains must give you incentive..

My wife and I hiked nearly every weekend when we lived out there. What makes it easier to get out is the variety of things you can do and the weather. In Iowa, I have taken up running and biking but there isn't really much else one can do outdoors here. Add to the equation that Iowa gets weather like yesterday.

Regardless, there is no excuse. Everyone is in control of their own bodies and the choices they make determine their fitness level. It really doesn't matter where you live.

Okoboji has built some really nice ones. Sioux City has some great ones they have been throwing around town even more so down by the river. Overall though you are right.

This is very true about CO. When I lived in Denver I was hiking, biking, fly fishing, camping, etc. every weekend and at least two time during the week as well.

There are opportunities in Iowa but you just have to seek them out a little more. I always hear the remark that you have to travel to get to places in Iowa but when I lived in Denver it was at least a 45 minute drive to do anything as well. But being able to see the mountains at all times makes them feel closer than they are. I've found in Iowa that if you expect things to compare to states like CO then you will be disappointed. But if you utilize and can appreciate the outdoor opportunities that this state offers than you can see that Iowa too has some great places.

Yeah I camp as much as I can here. I do love alot of Iowa's parks. My issue is that I dont have alot of friends that like to do outdoor activities (biking, camping, fishing, etc) or heck even any indoor sports or anything so my ambition is slowly lessening. It sucks. My kids are going to have to suffice.
