Breaking news: Oil leak stopped

Good deal if this thing can keep it up. Really curious about the engineering behind this plug.

Now they can start the clean up and not worry about more oil coming later to foul it up.

I will wait at least a week before I get too excited about this.

Makes me wonder though.......if they could do this now, why couldn't they do it 85 days ago?

you are probably buying gas made by BP and don't even realize it.

3 suppliers of gas in the Polk county area, one being BP.

The mom and pop BP store has nothing to do with the spill.

Wal Mart was out of the 75 ton cap size.

Seriously, the cap didn't exist 85 days ago. It had to be specially designed and fabricated just for this situation.

Also... this is just a test cap. If things don't go well it will be taken off and the siphoning continued.

The true solution is to drill the relief well and seal it with mud and cement.

At least we're seeing progress. Hopefully they can leave this cap on until it is permanently sealed.

This is what bothers me. If the thing is pumping that much oil, why don't they figure out a safe way to keep the well going. Right now it seems like all is being pushed is plug it and never drill that deep again?

It's about time those pelicans stop taking all the free oil they can carry without paying for it! It makes me sick when I have to pay $3 per gallon for gas and all the marine life and birds and such keep taking it all for free. So selfish...
