Wow NBC....just wow. I hope after a couple of years.....Letterman (and I like letterman...but he will probably closing shop) will be retiring soon, and Conan gets the gig on CBS and just crushes NBC for years on late night programming. idiots....going with HORRIBLE jay leno.

First of all, the category that won’t be broadcast at the ceremony is WRITING for Variety, Music, and Comedy Series. Meanwhile the main category for Variety, Music, and Comedy Series for which Conan and OTHERS are also nominated for will still be broadcast on the big night.

The Writers and Directors Guilds struck a deal with the Emmys last year to alternate which categories are broadcast at the main ceremony, to lessen the number of categories. Last year, it was the Writers for Variety, Music, and Comedy Series turn. This year, it’ll be Writers for Variety, Music, and Comedy Special.

If true, it would seem that the thread title is misleading...
