Ok I'll try to explain this best I can, but please understand I am pretty computer illiterate.
We had a Desktop computer that connected to the internet via Sprint Mobile Broadband (USB connection). I bought a Belkin wireless router so we could have wireless. I ran the ethernet cord that came with the router from the "modem" port on the router to the ethernet port on the desktop and we were able to connect our laptops via the wireless network. It was pretty simple and worked great.
Well, the desktop took a crap and is being repaired, in the meantime I tried to do the same process to get wireless but substituted my laptop for the desktop. I hooked the Sprint Mobile Broadband (USB conncection) to my laptop and the internet worked fine. Then I hooked the router up to my laptop via ethernet cord ("modem" port on router to ethernet port on laptop). However, when I run the seup CD the laptop is not recognizing the router and the other laptops in the house can't can't connect to the internet.
I am dumbfounded as to why it would work perfectly on my desktop but can't get it to work on my laptop.
Any help is appreciated if anyone has tried anything like this before. I called the Belkin help line and became very frustrated, I even had the lady draw a picture of how I had things hooked up because she wasn't understanding that the only way for Sprint Mobile Broadband to hook up was via USB.
Do you have internet connection sharing enabled on the laptop?
I don't know, how do I tell?
I found a screen that says the following:
Network discovery - on
File sharing - on
Public folder sharing - off
Printer sharing - off
Password protected sharing - on
Media sharing - off
