Typical. I successfully predicted the outcome of this after reading the first 2 sentences.

Good thing they are not as narrow minded as many of the people in this thread, or else the ISU campus would look quite a bit different, and not in a good way. Please. Do you think that those couple people donate to ISU out of pity? No, they donate because they believe in a program and want to help...whether it be academic or athletic. And actually, the ISU CAMPUS would look pretty similar without Dick Jacobson. Unless you are one of the hawk fans who think that the ISU campus consists of the area around JTS and Hilton.

There is a difference between supporting your team and being a smug *** that puts down fans of other schools, particularly when you didn't even attend the school you support.

In Pro sports the majority of the population never played for the team, but most would agree you have the right to root for whatever team you want and root against and torment your rivals. I feel the same about college sports, but this didn't even seem to be sports related. As much as I hate the Hawkeyes, I still respect the education you receive there and wouldn't insult someone for going there. I would give them a hard time about cheering for the basketball team though. See the difference here? BAM. This. Right there. It's one thing for a non-alum to rip the team, or the sport. You don't have to attend a college to cheer for their teams.
It's a whole different thing to rip the University if you didn't attend a comparable one. A U of I or UNI grad wants to tell me they don't like Iowa State University? Cool. That's fine. I don't like their chosen school either. Dude on a bar stool in Mason City who flunked out of NIACC wants to tell me ISU is a 2nd rate school because he jumped on the Hawk band wagon? **** off.

Went to DQ with my buddy last week. He was wearing an ISU shirt, waiting to order and this old guy walks up to him. "I'm an Iowa fan."
"I don't care."
I've never walked up to a guy wearing an Iowa shirt, "I'm an ISU fan."

I went to Rob Little last Thursday and he asked the same question. When someone said they went to ISU, there were boos from some Hawkeye fans. Rob started making fun of the hawk eye as a mascot and then said that the Cyclone was a real mascot and would blow away hawkeye fans in their trailers. It's like he knows the Iowa fan base.

Rob Little asks the guy who booed if he went to the University of Iowa? Much to my amazement, the guy said no. Rob asked him what college he went to, and the guy responds "Upper Iowa University". Rob than asks him what he got is degree in, and the guy says he did not finish his degree. For about the next 5 minutes, Rob Little completely made **** out of the guy for booing the girl who said she went to ISU when he didn't even finish his degree at a community college.
Yes!!! I freaking love it. Very typical Sqawk banter....then the nerve to call ISU a Jr. College? Wow.
F - Iowa and their heavy - "non-grad" fanbase.

Just another example of one of my favorite jokes:
What do Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans have in common? Neither went to the University of Iowa!

Re: Funny Bone Last Night
I was in Iowa City all weekend. Had a great time and there are fun thing to do there. The people were pretty nice to me even though I was decked out in Iowa State gear. I think its hilarious how half the people in Iowa city are civilized and its all the small town / tavernhawk people that are the idiots who have never stepped foot in Iowa City.

Agree here. My friends that actually went to Iowa....are respectful fans and do not act in this way. It is always the obnoxious non-graduate Iowa fans that belittle ISU for no reason. That is what ticks me off.

I hear they are as big of dbags as the non-grads.

But that's only because they're from chicago and are used to defending it as the best city in the world to anyone who will listen. It is only natural that they act the same way with the university they go to.

Every Iowan I know that's attended U of I is a very respectful Hawk fan. If all Hawk fans I met were like those guys, I'd probably root for them when they weren't playing ISU.
