Jon, you are an arrogant ***. Embrace it.

Re: CW on KXNO
Jon, you're belief that you don't come across as arrogant today is just your Hawk bias.
The rest of the world sees Iowa fans as laughably arrogant. Embrace it, like GC suggested. It's your calling card.

Chris, when Jon's asking you why ISU's line will get better just scream "NEXT MAN IN!!!!!!!!"
That's generally Hawk fan's argument.

Jon is actually making good points.

Re: CW on KXNO
Sometimes people can't handle a counter perspective. I have no idea where the truth lies because it's pre-season but I can see good happening and I can see bad happening.

Re: CW on KXNO
Wow, ISU was 99th in total defense last year? With only 4 returning starters on defense this year and with the nation's hardest schedule, it's easy to see why ISU was picked by the media to finish last in the North.

Top 25 in scoring defense though I believe. Turns out that points are actually what matters. I suppose they were inflated though because of that one game where someone could only score 7 measly points.

Re: CW on KXNO
There is no arrogance coming out of you right now, Jon. None.

Hat's off to ISU's DC and his staff who had their players in posistion to force as many turnovers they did that day.

Don't mean to pick on you garn, as lots of people throw out the "only x returning starters", but does it really matter how many starters are coming back? It's not like 22 guys play the whole game and no else gets any experience. Many of the guys who will be on the D-line got significant minutes last year, as did many of the d-backs.
We've had plenty of teams over the years where a large number of starters were returning and we ended up not being very successful. On the other hand, there's been years where we played a lot of new faces and had some good teams. Overall, I think it's a pretty irrelevant statistic, but it's something easy for writers to trot out to support their predictions, so it will continue to get used all the time.

Re: CW on KXNO
I think that Jon sounded arrogant today but did actually bring up a very valid point(s) with the qestions on D.
Our DL is a huge question mark and likely will be the determining factor of whether or not ISU makes a bowl game this year or watches from home. If ISU is 111th in sacks again this year and ranked 90 something in total defense then it is very likely that we take a step back as far as record goes. Our offense will be much improved (hopefully) from last year and should score more points. I just dont think that we can hang with the likes of TX, OK, TT, Utah, Iowa without improving on defense. Sooner or later those teams will stop ISU and if we cant do the same then its game over.
I actually predict that our D will improve because hey it cant get much worse and I think that talent wise we are in a better place than last year. Our DL and LB's will experience some growing pains early but hopefully later in the season they come together and form a solid unit.
“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...” – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register
