Re: Computer help
1. I googled it.
2. I'm going to get spybot as well.
If I have malwarebytes and spybot, do I still need Avast?

No one antivirus program is perfect. I've never had an issue with Norton, but I'm not foolish enough to believe it can't happen. I know people who have been fine with Avast or AVG, and I know people who have horror stories. Comes down to basically what do you do on the internet.

True, I use Symantec Endpoint for work and Avast at home and have never had a virus. Really depends on your surfing habits... Surf like an idiot, all your facebook friends get acai berry cleansing spam on their walls.
If you want to throw even more useful utilities into the mix, try CCleaner for registry/cache cleaning.

Re: Computer help
My Avast keeps telling me I need to update, do I just go to the avast website and download the newest? I can't find a place to do it in the program.
Thanks for all the help.

If you want to throw even more useful utilities into the mix, try CCleaner for registry/cache cleaning. Trust me, you can get some wicked ones with Symantec Endpoint. I've had to format a few computers because of the mess a few viruses have thrown at it.
CCLeaner = very, very underrated program.
Defragging your computer occasionally doesn't hurt it either. Defragment + CCleaner should = faster computer in a lot of cases.

Thanks for all the help. I'd consider a clean install just because you've already had issues and a clean install should give you the most up-to-date software.

MJ, just uninstall the old version and download the new one. probably easier.

These are the exact programs that our IT guys used to save my work computer. On a related note, my home computer that I posted about (may it rest in peace) was not salvageable after unplugging it. I mean, it was, but the hard drive was completely corrupted, and perhaps the memory whatever you call ems too.
They're building me a new computer from scratch that will allow me to take over the internets.

That's how you position yourself for domination.

That's how you position yourself for domination. You lose for not calling it intarwebz then.
