I've never seen flash flooding like I witnessed this morning around 80/35 and Merle Hay Road exit. Every single car in that Ramada/indoor water park parking lot had water up to the top of their door. It was a raging river...unreal.
wow thats pretty crazy. although that area has flooded many times in the past. must be raining pretty hard. hopefully its nice this weekend as i will be heading back to Ames for a wedding.
I noticed that usually small creek just west of the Hy Vee on Douglas was a torrent this morning. Never been able to see the water before, now it was 30-40' across.
Crappy year for weather.... Winter that never ended. Rain that never seems to stop.

Yeah that's what's so crazy about it. That creek floods all the time but this was completely unrelated and mostly coming down the hill and flowing through the dealerships and combining with water off the interstate.

Aren't they doing a bunch of construction around that hotel? I wonder if some of the water got redirected....

I did a survey of that hotel a few years back and that creek had maybe an inch of water in it. Wow that is just amazing. Hope everyone had insurance. And watch out if you're buying a used car... Some of that flood damage takes awhile to do its damage.
Ahh man, that part with the kid and the ruined presents is heart-breaking. Poor little guy.
I chuckled a little bit when his dad/grandpa was almost taunting him with the light saber....this is a really cool toy you would have liked, would have been cool huh? Come on man, playin with the kids muddy toy tellin him how cool it could have been!?
