I'm a collector, but I'm more of a seller of football cards these days. Back in 2004, I bought a box of cards and pulled an Eli Manning autographed rookie card (only 200 of these were made and signed.) I decided to hold on to it and sell it at just the right time. When the Giants beat the Cheateriots and Eli won Super Bowl MVP, I couldn't find the card. Nonetheless, I still have the card in my possession.
Bought a ton as a kid. Basketball - I remember going to the Ben Franklin store in South Sioux City, Nebraska and buying packs of Fleer basketball cards. This was the year of Jordan's rookie card. Never got one of his.
Now, if I buy anything, it is usually legends autographed cards off of Ebay. I used to have to go to shops or card shows to get rare cards. Then I remember when the newsgroups and Usenet were first out and those were great places to buy and sell cards. Then Ebay came along and really changed the marketplace.
