Does anyone else think this sounds like something a PHYSICS professor should know better than to do on an extremely hot day....?Quote:
According to the University of Iowa Police Department, the professor filled eight balloons — four with hydrogen and four with a hydrogen/oxygen mix — and placed them into a Ford Explorer owned by the university.
He's not a physics professor or a professor at all. He's a staff member (Instructional Resource Specialist ). Regardless, I hope he's okay and if he is, I bet he's embarrassed.
That's why you take the tanks and empty balloons. I'm wondering if static elec set it off. Static is fun to mess with when the balloons are filled with regular air...but Hydrogen... watch out.
Hope the guy is ok... but COME ON!
This has Darwinism written all over it.Quote:
Stille puts on programs for school children doing scientific demonstrations, including exploding balloons filled with hydrogen and oxygen.
It'd be one thing if he didn't somehow realize the balloons might explode. But when he's taking them with the express intent of producing an explosion....
