West? Wow. That's another 25-30 miles from Elkhart.
Is the 80/35 corridor closed somewhere? Or in danger? Perhaps between Merle Hay and 2nd?
I just drove that an hour ago, the fields are barely even wet. There is no more water there than has been there for the past 2 weeks. I-80 in DSM is not going to be closed.

Only concern I have now is that there's already ton of flooding in many areas of Des Moines. And all the flooding happening in the Boone/Ogden area - in the Des Moines river valley.
Takes about a day for that all to work it's way down here.
Have they got those emergency gates fixed on the Saylorville spillway?
Closed past Madrid for road construction. I came up 17 this morning and there were a couple places down to one lane due to water on the road. If taking 17 you'd have to detour on 210 through Woodward to 141. Or go through Polk City.
Is the back way on South Dakota still open, going through Slater?
Nope that's still under construction, I took State st. in Ames south towards Kelly and over to 69 to get out of Ames. Then there was Huxley and miles of traffic. Gravel ftw.
“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”
just talked to a buddy going to huxley from ankeny on 69 and everyone from 35 is trying to head north on 69 now.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than selfish and worry about my liver."

Has anyone heard anything about I-80 closing by colfax?
According to the NOAA hydrology page, the Skunk should be over I-80 there for the next several days. The river is already at 22.5 ft, and forecasted to get to 25.
At 22ft Interstate 80 is flooded between mile markers 155 and 159. Much of downtown Colfax and numerous homes on the west and northwest sides of town are flooded.
