Honestly...I don't think we need the help getting rid of the water. The help needed is cleaning things up and shoring up mechanical/electrical systems.

Things like this go far beyond some stupid rivalry between schools and their fans. When people and proeprty are affected this should be the last thing on anybody's mind. It's nice to see somebody with the knowledge, equiptment and manpower offer to help where it's needed.

correct and i remember pictures of iowa players sandbagging back in '08 and the comments were the inmates were sandbagging, etc. the comments were ugly.

Good for them for offering to help. I give them even more credit that the media is the first to report it. There marketing is top-notch, they don't do anything like this without alerting the media.

No. They are undoubtedly decorative pumps.. Used more as a tourist attraction to draw people from miles around to come see them.

thats what i figured. my guess is the pumps would work about as well as that UI professors science experiment with hydrogen filled balloons

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS rocket scientist WAS GOING TO DRIVE TO PERRY WITH GOD KNOWS HOW MANY HYDROGEN FILLED BALLOONS IN HIS U OF I EXPLORER?

He's lucky he didn't blow himself up driving down I80 or may blow up some kids at Perry. They should keep him under sedation and evaluate his mental competency while he's at the hospital, being checked out. WHAT A MOROON.

I think the help is greatly appreciated, and it is nice to have a neighbor university that will help out. Iowa and Iowa State can be proud of this bond despite our rivalry.

Classy move by the U of I, but would be surprised if it's needed. The only University buildings affected that weren't in 2008 is Hilton. So that is the one area where pumps might help. After that it's too late for sand bags to do anything assuming it doesn't rise higher than it is now.

Nice gesture nonetheless.
