I think what you heard was for the town of colfax. It has already crested in ames. I hope.
oh thats probably right. i figured it was just squaw that had crested and was starting to drop. im glad i was wrong in this situation...thats enough water for 1 day and directing traffic because of flooded roads sucks with the heat index we had today...
Remember, it's not just waiting for the water to go back down, but a lot of these roads will need to be inspected for integrity before allowing traffic back on them.
I was just out walking around the Hilton/Jack Trice area and the streets have all receded except to the north of Hilton on Lincoln Way and on S 4th east of University. The water has gone down tremendously since this morning/afternoon. But like you guys said, they will need to be checked first.

im sure most roads will clear by tomorrow night so we can actually travel from one side of Ames to the other. however, by tomorrow night/friday morning it will more than likely reflood. and if the water some how stays off the road tomorrow night, it will back in force by friday night since theres another big round of storms expected to hit. im pretty sure we will destroy the record of total rain from 1993
Missouri in parts from 1993 experienced 1000 year flood events over 30 days.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

How far has the water moved from the Jacobson Building?

I didnt walk towards it from University but it looks to have receded quite a bit. The lots between Jack Trice and Hilton have almost totally receded. There is still a fair amount of water around Hilton though.
