Let's face it; commercial air travel is one of the most uncomfortable, worst consumer experiences people go through. I travel 75% of the time and I am so burned out from crappy designed seats; non-reclining seats; cramped conditions; and toilets you can smell half-way up the isles.
And if I'm paying $600 for a coach seat, it better dang well recline.
True.
Flight attendants have to put up with a lot of crap. There are a hell of a lot of very rude fliers out there. But the flying public have to put up with a lot of ******** everytime they have to fly as well. They are not paid to be there, they are paying a good deal of money to a service industry for service.
There are two sides to everything and to paint this guy a hero is about as ridiculous as making the barefoot bandit some sort of folk hero. He wasn't standing up for anything but simply acting out for his own satisfaction. If he was truly endangered by a passenger, the airlines have ways of dealing with the passenger. I have had friends who have been on the wrong side of this and they had no recourse. If the air crew said they were disruptive, the passenger was escorted off, no questions asked - no recourse.
It is too bad that people do not treat others how they would like to be treated. Most times by doing so you get better results.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

That's absolutely true. We missed a connecting flight once because our first flight was delayed. I walked up to the service desk, smiled and greeted the guy, explained the situation and he got me booked on the next flight from Chicago to Omaha.
One of the 2 others I was travelling with walked up to the other agent and demanded he do something about it. He put him on a flight from Chicago to Omaha via Detroit.
They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.
