A lot of items tigerdirect ships out of IL, so the shipping is almost overnight. Pretty nice if you're in a hurry. Newegg, tigerdirect, and sometimes Amazon.

However that 10th time is most normally big box electronics like TV's and etc. which I will always go to a retailer for. I can't often be around when UPS or FedEx comes around so I end up missing it and have to go pick it up anyway.

best buy is horrible. They deserve to go under. They offer nothing in return for their inflated prices.

And it seems like best buy used to be better. Probably has something to do with the lack of competition.
I'll give another vote to amazon.com. Especially with prime, its great. Didn't Fry's go bankrupt? They closed all their stores out here. I got some sweet deals at their clearance sales. Unfortunately it was for shelving/filing cabinet type things rather than electronics. I always found them to be higher priced, though it did seem like they had top of the line stuff.
I still enjoy Best Buy, but I'm not a big technology guy. I usually go there to buy t.v.s, dvd players, etc and take advantage of their open box items. You can usually get a good deal if you stumble upon what you need.
Amazon is amazing. They continually suprise me with their vast selection. A few weeks ago I bought a replacement handle/latch for my dishwaswher. I never would have thought they would carry such a thing but they were the first option on my google search.

People can rip on me if they want but I have been getting alot of stuff lately at WalMart or Staples.
I don't rely on them for advice I do my research ahead of time and just find what store has what I want for the cheapest.

You sure youre not thinking of someone else like circuit city? Because fry's is still alive and well, and i actually was in the Frys in San Diego a month or so ago..

You are correct sir, I was thinking of Circuit City. My apologies. I do hit Fry's from time to time, it's kind of like a giant warehouse sized version of Radio Shack combined with Best Buy.

Re: Alternative to Best Buy
I have found other places that are better than BB. I had really good luck with Archers in Adel. I bought a new washing machine there and asked if they price matched, the salesperson said without hesistation "absolutely." I got to pick the day I wanted it delivered, not when they wanted to deliver it, and delivery was free. It was an incredibly easy transaction. They have a pretty solid selection for a small town store (appliances, TV, home theater, etc). http://www.archerhomecenter.com/
I've also had good luck with Nebraska Furniture Mart. I bought my plasma screen there and couldn't be happier. The salesman was not pushy, and knew what he was talking about. He also mentioned even if they don't have it in DSM, they can get it from Omaha no problem. I also bought a new freezer there too. They typically have 0% financing special too if you don't want to pay cash.
BB sales people have gone in the tank since they took them off commission. They know they don't have to work for a sale anymore.

I respectfully disagree. Their prices on accessories are ridiculous. But they do offer other products for a reasonable price. Can you find it cheaper online? Probably. But the sad truth is they are the only real electronics store left. Their prices on video games and TV's are very competitive. I got my last TV there and got a great deal. You just have to wait for the sales.
They provide a place where you can buy stuff from and not have to wait. Some people like that. I prefer to shop around. And DO NOT recommend their Geek Squad. That is highway robbery.

That is highway robbery. geek squad is a joke...just to setup your computer (plugging everything in and organizing the cables and setting up your email account) is 150 bucks plus another 100 bucks just to transfer data from your old computer to your new one (and thats only 20 GBs worth, which most people have at least 60 GB). what a sham...
