Hey, I've lived in Ankeny, West Des Moines, and now northwestern Des Moines proper. It doesn't seem like a bit deal, but if you're an avid game supporter, you will really appreciate starting out that much closer to Ames. (If you've never known otherwise...which sounds like your case....you don't know what you're missing. )

Sorry, it just sounded like you were throwing the south burbs under the bus. In my mind in terms of getting to Ames anything under an hour isn't a big deal so maybe that's why I'm not concerned about the additional time.
