So I get in my car around 7 this morning to head to work. I hear Deace say on the radio before heading to break "It's a huge day today in Iowa." I thought, "Great, opening day ISU football talk this morning."
All they've talked about is the Big Ten schedules. Just now they began discussing the game a little. Disappointing.

You must be listening to a different show because the one I'm listening to with Deace has talked an awful lot about our game and what ISU needs to do to win. I think sometime people look for any little reason to slap on the big brother complex with the media.

Of course he is, but he is also an Iowa State "fan".

Now, he's not a "fan" in the traditional sense in that he doesn't actually like Iowa State. He's a "fan" of Iowa State because he needs to be the yang to the Hawkeye's ying.

It's really that simple.

You can't be a big fan of two schools. We know that he's a Michigan fan first and without questions, so his alleged allegiance to Iowa State is one of career convenience.

Actually, I'm a big Deace and Miller fan. I didn't talk any smack, I said I was disappointed. From 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. all I heard was Big 10 schedule talk. Then some callers and ISU talk. I was just stating that I am in such an "ISU frame of mind" this morning that that was the only thing I could think about when he said it was a big day in Iowa.
I think sometimes people should read before they type.

Iowa State has a home opener every year. The big ten changes their conference once every 20+. The big ten division announcement is big news that will be covered today.
Props to Delaney. He picked a day where everyone is focusingon football and stole that day. Every radio show across the country changed their programming for today. It went from 100% first day of college football to 50% big ten 50% college football. It is big news

Witht hat said, if they don't sepnd the majority of the day talking about ISU/NIU and iowa/EIU tomorrow then they would have failed

Have Deace or Miller said if they will be at the game tonight? If either (preferably both) go to the game, I'll probably start listening to KXNO again - just in the mornings. I would rather hear opinions from sports reporters who actually attended the game, rather than a "DJ" performance, where the hosts rehash the same information they got from the FOX broadcast team (sounds like something a certain afternoon show would do...)

FSN's Big 12 Showcase last night gave a run-down of all six games in the Big 12 this weekend, and saved about 15 seconds for ISU-NIU (first calling it Iowa State versus Northern Iowa) right before the closing credits. I learned more about the "interesting" matchup between Texas Tech and Stephen A. Austin and the donnybrook between last year's non-bowl powerhouses North Dakota State and K-Statethan I did about the next day's televised contest between bowl teams.

So, I guess I'm not surprised that a Spartan/Wolverine opened with the huge news that Iowa and Purdue won't lose their storied rivalry.

Illinois/northwestern happen because of proximity. Purdue/Iowa happened because it was the only game left. MSU/Indy is a trophy game and all the others make sense. They did as well as they could.
