EVANSTON, Ill. *– An Iowa State wrestler is pre-seeded in every weight class of the 2008 Midlands Wrestling Championships, to be contested Dec. 29-30 in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Defending 184-pound champion Jake Varner is the top seed at 197 pounds. Iowa State won the team title at the 2006 Midlands, the schools' first team crown here since 1981.* The Cyclones placed second as a team last season.
