Twins fans: Yanks, Rays, or...
Boston?
Red Sox trail the Yankees by six games BUT the Yankees still have a four game set against the Rays where the Sox could make up ground.
And the little fact that Boston and NY play 6 times over the final ten games of the season.
6 game with 16 to play sounds like a lot...but keep in mind it is roughly the same hole the Twins faced last year, down 5.5 to Detroit with 18 to play.
If Boston heads into those final 10 only back 3 or 4 games?
What do you say? Do you want the Rays, the Yankees, or a potentially red-hot Boston team?

Not sure Boston can do it, but as a Twins fan would LOVE to see the Yankees out. Only thing better would be the Twins taking them out in the first round.

Twins need to play the Rays. Yankees just have their number mentally. Plus Derek Jeter might keep faking getting hit by balls.

Which is why I'd rather play them in a 5 game set instead of 7. They'll have the first 2 at Target Field where it's tougher for the Yankees to play their HR type of ball. Get them out of the way and set the tone for a playoff run.
Also, I think the Rays are simply the better team.

So no matter what Twins will get home field for the first series EVEN if a worse record than the Wild Card?

I think we can take the Rays. The Yankees are just scary, as they could even out or win a low scoring game with a big hit. They seem to be able to win the closer games against us.
If our bats were hotter, and we were putting up more runs against better teams, then I wouldn't be so concerned.

I'd rather face the Rays. Plus the Rangers got done sweeping the Yankees, and the Twins have matched up well with both the Rays and the Rangers this year. I don't know the last time the Twins matched up well with the Yankees...

As long as the Twins' record stays better than the Rangers' (and the Twins currently have a 5 game lead on them), the Twins will have home field at least in the first round.

The logical answer is the Rays; the Twins don't want to face the Yankees and, as you say, if they faced the Red Sox they would be a dangerously hot team.
