    Congrats to the Reds, some tense moments this season between the two teams but in all honesty I'm thankful for the race and hope it will be just as fun (hopefully even longer) next season. Good luck in the postseason, although truthfully I think the Reds will struggle.

    The comparison was only half-serious; I have two good friends who are Card fans, and they seem to live vicariously through their team just like Hawkeye fans. Cardinal fans I know also decry the steroid era in baseball, but defend the LaRussa's hiring of McGwire.
    Speaking of Tony, I didn't really root against St. Louis until I realized what a grump he is. His postgame press conferences are brutal - he glares at everyone, and seems like he's ready to take a swing at any reporter who asks even a pointed question...

    I have no real opinion personally on the hiring of McGuire. To me, it's "whatever" lol.

    And yes, Tony is rather blunt in his postgame conferences. I think they're kind of funny personally.

    I was about ready to pull up the "Reds/Cards" thread for some members to reflect. There were a lot of happy Cardinal fans feeling they were taking the division with ease.

    I'd lost track. I was honestly surprised earlier today to see that they hadn't clinched it. It seemed like a foregone conclusion with their lead.
