Canadian football - What is this?

Seriously, this is the most bizarre thing I have seen in a football game yet. I knew there were a few differences in the rules, but is this even the same sport?

If the other team would have recovered they still would have lost because if you don't get the kicked ball out of your endzone it isn't a touchback, it is a single, one point for the opposition.

Yeah, basically if the kicked the FG wide but out of the endzone they would get a single point...known as a rougue. Basically instead of running it out to force OT, he tried to kick it out so they would not give up the point, I dont think he really thinking the other team would just kick it back.
