King Felix wins Controversial AL CYYoung
M's Hernandez wins Cy Young over Price, Sabathia - MLB - CBSSports.com Baseball
personally, I think they got it right, but there are a lot of folks (Yankee fans) that don't. Where does everybody fall on this?

Damn right, they got it right. It's not Felix's fault he was pitching on a crappy team.

Re: King Felix wins Controversial AL CYYoung
The only controversial part of the vote was the writer who tried to sabotage his chances by voting him in 5th place. That guy should be stripped of his voting privileges.

No run support. If he had that, it wouldn't have been close.

Re: King Felix wins Controversial AL CYYoung
Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows wins is the most overrated, non-telling stat in the game followed by RBIs.

Re: King Felix wins Controversial AL CYYoung
is it really a controversy when the past 2 AL Cy Young winners were amazing pitchers on Crappy teams?

Re: King Felix wins Controversial AL CYYoung
Nothing controversial at all as far as I'm concerned. He was clearly the best pitcher in the AL this year. I'm just glad that baseball media members are finally starting to realize that pitcher wins have more to do with how good of an offense a team has rather than the inherent talents of a particular starting pitcher. The Mariners were historically bad at the plate this year. They scored the fewest runs of any AL team in history since the DH was implemented. It's hard to win games as a pitcher when your team can't score any runs. That doesn't mean that you are a bad pitcher though. It's amazing that it's taken this long for voting media members to finally get that through their thick skulls.

Nice, I'm impressed he actually won. Maybe some writers are finally starting to come around. But I have to wonder how angry Joe Morgan is right now. Joe Morgan's opinion about the Cy Young debate is exactly what you'd expect | HardballTalk -

Ok, maybe it's not as controversial as I thought. Maybe I talk to too many Yankee fans.

Why are RBI's over-rated? I think hitting with men on base is more pressure than hitting without anyone on so I think it's a legit stat that matters.

Because it depends on the guys ahead of you to get on base, not your production. 50 solo home runs is more impressive than 20 three run home runs.

You could hit .330 and have 40 RBI's because when you hit there is no one on base. Or you could hit .240 and have 100 RBI's because there is 2 runners on base everytime you come to bat.

RBIs are not nearly as overrated as wins but say you play for a team that can't hit worth a **** and there's never anyone on base ahead of you. Not your fault the rest of the team can't get on base. Look at A-Rod. He had a ton of RBI's but his batting average wasn't great. His RBIs came from his teammates getting on ahead of him.
