So does the US have a chance?
Would love to, but apparently not. Looks like it's going to Qatar :(
Have we ever hosted it?
Russia for 2018. Now waiting for 2022 announcement.
Qatar in 2022. So apparently you can buy the rights to host the World Cup. They do have some cool proposed stadiums though...

Nice, looks like none of them have retractable roof :)
When we hosted the World Cup in 1994, it was hot as hell (even the players complained the extreme heat), not you can imagine how hot it'll be in Qatar where average high in June and July are 106 and 115, respectively
With those proposed stadiums I can see why Qatar got it.
This is bs no one want's to go to either of those places
Ivan Drago is happy. No reason to bring it to the United States to be quite honest. We are not a soccer country. We would probably fill up the stands for the USA games. However they should keep this tourny over on that side of the pond. THey really like this sport.
If it were football NFL style I would be outragged.
Ribbon one is dumb
it was all politics. US just isn't popular in world opinion right now.
Those stadiums in Qatar are pretty sweet.
Apparently each stadium in Qatar is going to have the latest in hi-tech cooling systems. Apparently inside the stadiums will be ideal playing conditions. Of course, once you step outside the stadium you'll immediately die of heat stroke.
IMO good for them. They've got the money to put on a world-class World Cup. All I know is I want to be in Qatar's group in WC 2022 (I think, as of right now, they're the lowest-rated team ever to be picked to host a World Cup).
