Culpepper was constant QB when the Bears had to start 7 different QB's a year.

Bears fans are whinier than Bears players. And with Cutler as their qb that says a lot.

Nonsense, they played football in the 60's. All of those players are in perfect health, its not like any of them are asking for money to cover their health care or anything.

Baseball players used to play without helmets too, but that doesn't mean it was the smart thing to do.

these teams just need to nut up and play the damn game. Do you think they gave a **** how cold it was in the ice bowl at Lambeau? They did it because it was there job, and they love the game. There were no heated fields, no indoor stadiums, none of it. If you dont want to work in the conditions and environment of where you work, then maybe its time to come down from your little pedestal and take a normal job. Maybe an office job... hey they always work indoors.

The point of the matter is, you get paid the BIG bucks for a reason, go out and show you are worth every penny......

Haha typical packker. Name one field that isnt heated(that obviously needs to be). Thats right, there isnt one. We dont play in the days of the ice bowl. You might well put on your best grandpa voice and tell us all you walked to school uphill both ways in a blizzard all winter long.

So why should the Bears have to play in a parking lot, risking injury with the playoffs on the line?

Because this is football, not flag foot ball.

    Re: Wimpy NFL Football Players

Re: the Ice Bowl at Lambeau ... yeah, they had heating coils under the turf, but it was so damn cold that day they didn't do any good. Field was still frozen. And they still played on it.

How about the artificial turf fields? The old style artificial turf, not Field Turf and the like. Those surfaces were/are hard as asphalt even in the summer. And they still play on it. Doesn't Buffalo still have an AstroTurf field? Doesn't it get cold in Buffalo? Is anybody saying Buffalo needs to move their winter games away from Ralph Wilson Stadium?

The Vikings need to play outdoors. They've been the cold-weather wimps of the NFL ever since 1982, and that's a freakin' shame. Whining about the condition of TCF Bank field is just that ... whining. Sheesh ...

    Re: Wimpy NFL Football Players

Okay, I've done a little more research. Apparently I've been watching too much ESPN Classic.

Even Buffalo has gone to a softer artificial turf surface, somewhat similar to Field Turf. It doesn't look like any NFL or major college programs are using the old-style hard turf surface anymore, which is a great step forward and one I completely agree with.

But still ... football has been played on frozen ground and hard artificial turf for decades. I don't think this one game outdoors in Minneapolis in December is going to end NFL football as we know it. Next you'll be saying we should make some softer ice to cushion the blows given by NHL players .....

And the Falcons, Saints, Texans, Cowboys, and Cardinals are then true candy-*****. They play in climate-controlled environments and they are all in southern tier states. Heck, let's throw in the Rams and Colts into this mix as they also play indoors and are more southern than Minneapolis. Chiefs are close as they priced out putting a lid on their crib when they remodelled as well. I find that most of the Bears and Packer fans that ***** about the Vikings playing indoors have never ventured into Soldier or Lambeau in the worst of winter conditions. Easy to complain when you watch from your living room.

Ugh, stop comparing this to the when the game was played in the 60's. Players now are way stronger, faster, and hit MUCH harder than anyone did back then.

That's a debatable statement, and what does it have to do with anything?

You do know this happened to Aaron Rodgers last week in a heated domed stadium. It can happen in any game. Same with Urlacher and Cutler breaking their leg. Maybe they shouldn't play in any games because they 'might' get hurt.

Is natural grass heated? No, its frozen, this is no different, and might even be softer.
