Why wouldn't you count a full season while talking about a pitcher's career stats? Just because he had a season that appears to be an anomaly doesn't mean those stats don't count.

Of course they count. But, that one season was so atypical of any season he's had that they skew his real value, IMO. I was as much a Greinke fan as you'll find. I've seen him pitch many, many times. This past season was a big disappointment given his 2009 year. I think teams adjusted to him (his slider and working him into longer counts) and 2010 is more like the "real Greinke". He was ok in 2010 but no where near how he looked the year before... his only real dominant season.

Baseball Prospectus just called our minor leagues, "the best they have ever seen"
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Odorizzi is Milwaukee's top minor league prospect according to Keith Law (lead analyst for Scouts Inc.). They got another solid pitching prospect and potentially filled glaring holes at SS & CF. Their farm system just got even better. Great job Dayton Moore.

Yeah I agree...They got a reliever who can't put down the refer. A shortstop who couldn't hit major league pitching at all. A center fielder who finished the year off good last year but is streaky and I have read that a lot of scouts view him as a 4th outfielder.

The gem of the trade is the youngest guy. Projected to be a #2 or 3 pitcher he was the top prospect in the system.

Weeks will have an incentive laden deal. I expect him to be resigned this year. Fielder will probably fly off into the wind after this year and with Boras as his agent...you can bet he will not come cheap. I would laugh if he had a huge year this year. If the cubs try to sign either him or Pujols they will be mortgaging their future yet again with a huge $100 million deal.

A farm system that they will use to trade for more prospects once they get to the majors. Unless they can bring in some guys who can change the mentality of the organization, they will not contend even with the best players.

Well, let's see. It led to 97 wins and a World Series appearance for Tampa in 2008 and 96 wins for them last season. The Royals right now are sitting in the same position that Tampa was in probably 2006. Except for the fact that the Royals minor league system is even better than Tampa's at the time. KC is a couple of years away from having their impact prospects in the majors so patience is still required. Of course, nothing is guaranteed when you are talking about minor league prospects, but to pretend like they don't matter to the success of a small-market franchise is just ignorant.

Never said it didn't matter and I suppose if you're the Royals you have to hold out hope for anything. Keep in mind your GM also just signed Jeff Francouer and Melky Cabrera so let's not just assume he's going to keep making great moves.
