Exactly. Remember when the Dolphins were a perennial playoff team? I do, but just barely.

Luck is a very good QB, no question about that, but he's not the only reason for Stanford's success. They have a really good OL and really good D too. The whole team is pretty solid.

Re: Dolphins to offer Harbaugh $8 mil per year

As a Dolphins fan, I'm not facepalming. If we're stuck with Chad Henne, nobody can coach him better than Harbaugh (both Michigan quarterbacks).

As a lifelong Dolphins fan, if we're stuck with Chad Henne we're screwed no matter if Lombardi comes back from the grave to coach the 'Fins. He is HORRIBLE. Just awful, and if he hasn't learned how to play the game by his 3rd season I don't think any amount of coaching is going to make him better. Frankly, if I never see him in a Dolphins uniform again it will be too soon.

As for Sparano, I'm ambivalent. I do think he's a good coach, as he took the team from 1 win in 2007 to the division title and 11 wins in 2008, but win a freakin' home game for crying out loud! Going 0-3 at home against Cleveland, Buffalo, and Detroit is absolutely unacceptable so if Sparano is fired I really can't be too upset.

Don't know about Harbaugh. Great college coach, but so were Spurrier and Saban, and that didn't go so well when they made the jump. 8 million dollars a year is way too high for anyone who hasn't proven themselves though.

Talk about awkward. Ownership to Sparano: If Harbaugh doesn't take the $8million a year you are our guy.

Teams this year just can't talk to Frazier anymore to satisfy the rule now, like they have been the last couple of years.

I'm not going to say anything that hasn't already been said but I just think this whole situation stinks.

First, I think he'll be a great coach because he has everything you need to be successful in the NFL: He can obviously coach and, as a former player in the league, he will have the respect of his players and be able to manage egos. But It's an outrageous amount of money to pay someone who has never coached at that level.

Secondly, the Dolphins haven't even fired their current coach and I think it is horrible they are doing this to him. If I was in Harbaugh's shoes I'd feel like **** for even talking to the Dolphins about a job that is theoretically not open. I would never do that to another coach.

Screw the Rooney rule, I couldn't care less about that aspect.

Yeah, it's Perry Fewell now. This rule is merely a formality. People think that this rule is the reason for the increase in black coaches in the NFL. False. The increase in good black coaches is the reason for the increase in black coaches in the NFL. Leslie Frazier took those interviews the best he could, but he had to realize that a majority were simply formalities.

Agreed, just saying that if we draft a quarterback and have to develop him (since we're not getting Luck) he may be able to get the most from that garbage player in the meantime.

A great take on the rule from a former executive on an NFL team:

According to a sports update from WSSP in Milwaukee, a report from the San Jose Mercury News has stated that Harbaugh has accepted the Dolphins offer to become their head coach. Nothing is posted on their website yet to confirm, however.

Interesting connection, the Dolphin's owner is Ross who is a Michigan alum and one of their largest donors, if not the largest.

Their business school is named after him.
