Dolphins to offer Harbaugh $8 mil per year
Dolphins owner Steve Ross has traveled to the Bay Area to "make an urgent pitch" to Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, ESPN reported Wednesday night. The Dolphins apparently are prepared to make Harbaugh the highest-paid coach in the NFL, paying him upwards of $8 million per season. Which is extremely peculiar, considering that the Dolphins haven't even fired Sparano nor have they even interviewed their minority candidate per league rules yet...

Re: Dolphins to offer Harbaugh $8 mil per year
yeah, this doesn't make any sense.
I would normally say that Harbaugh would be an idiot to go to Miami, but let's be honest, $8 mil is.... a lot of cash. I'd fail for 3 years to get $24 mil.

Re: Dolphins to offer Harbaugh $8 mil per year
I think Harbaugh is a good coach and I think 5 million a year isn't unreasonable but 8 million a year? That's just stupid. You don't make a guy the highest paid coach when he hasn't coached an NFL game before.
Some of the number being thrown around with this guy are mind-boggling.

$8 million a year, no state income tax sure beats $5 million with California taxes. Funny thing is, the Dolphins owner has his name on the business building at University of Michigan...

As a Dolphins fan, I'm facepalming.

Re: Dolphins to offer Harbaugh $8 mil per year
As a Dolphins fan, I'm not facepalming. If we're stuck with Chad Henne, nobody can coach him better than Harbaugh (both Michigan quarterbacks). Better quarterback play can allow us to improve skill positions and the right side of the o-line in the draft. Ross is a business man and if he thinks $8 million per is a good investment than I'm on board baby!

I call BS. This makes no sense, even for a team Parcells is involved in. Not questioning the contact, but someone a job that is currently filled is not gonna fly.
No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

Desparation. Looks like all pro coaching salaries will go up as a result.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I'd be surprised if Sporano was the coach next year. He's the fallback option which means: "We couldn't get Harbaugh, Cower, or Gruden so you can keep your job...until next offseason)

8 million for a coach who only has had success at the college level seems really dumb. No way he should make more than Belicheck or Payton.

And he has only had one great year - can he sustain it or even bigger than that is can he replicate it? Seems like a big jump to me and just b/c his brother is successful in the pros doesn't mean he will.
I'm a Steeler fan so don't really care, just think it is a big jump.
