Re: Colts / Jets
I didnt think Manning was on the kick coverage team.

Manning is 4-2 or 5-2 against Rex. Ryan hardly has scoreboard.
He does have the sweet foot action at home though.

Re: Colts / Jets
Peyton manning is the best player on the colts team. they would probably be no where if they didn't have him. He makes just about all of the plays in a football game.
Yet they lost and it was his fault. Yea, squarely on his shoulders. One guy.

Re: Colts / Jets
He also drove the ball down the field and gave his team the lead with less than a minute to go.
Thats right. The Colts defense gave up 80 yards in :58 seconds.

I guess if Manning doesn't throw for 300+ yds and at least 4 tds every game it's considered a chokejob to some people.
This thread was laughable.

Re: Colts / Jets
he only threw for 225 & 1 TD ... I don't expect 300+ & 4 .... how about 300 even and 2?
he had half a dozen less attempts than Sanchez. Did the Colts expect to win by running? exactly what the Jets wanted them to do?
Peyton took what the defense gave him, the run. Unfortunately that's exactly what the Jets wanted - they out gameplanned him.
One & done in the playoffs again - Classic Peyton. (7 of 11 times btw).

Re: Colts / Jets
The Jets pass D is very, very good. Revis did what he always does: shut down the top receiver. Cromartie is inconsistent, but when you play him in press coverage (which the Jets did A LOT of yesterday), he can play as well as anyone (save for one or two corners in the league). He gave up 112 yards to Garcon, 57 of which came on Garcon's TD reception when Cromartie was playing off the line in a deep zone (not his strong suit). Tamme had a decent game, but he's no Dallas Clark.
The Jets gameplanned to limit Garcon (Wayne wasn't going to do a lot against Revis, and that requires no gameplanning to accomplish. Revis is simply even money.), and it worked. When you shut down one receiver and limit another, Manning isn't going to fare as well.

Re: Colts / Jets
if the jets and colts switched QBs:
Jets: 14-2 and super bowl champs
Colts: 5-11

Every team, let me say that again, EVERY TEAM wants Indy to run. That is not out gameplanning Peyton that is the way it has been since Edgerrin played for them.
He had a half dozen attempts less than Sanchez because he got the ball for one series of downs in the 3rd quarter. The Jets had one drive go for 8 mins.
Manning has been in the NFL for around 13 years and made the playoffs 11 of those years? Yet you say he is a choke job.
It seems like maybe Peyton has torched your team before and now you are just looking for anything to critique him about. Broncos fan?

I'm also confused why Caldwell called a timeout at the end there. The Jets were more than content to run the clock and attempt a 49 yard field goal. What would he have gained by calling that timeout? Did he figure that they'd kick on second down anyway with 30 seconds left and give the ball back to the Colts? Run the clock, try to ice the kicker and force him to have to make an almost 50 yarder in a high pressure situation in a hostile environment. I'd love to see his explanation for that timeout. Let's blame the loss on the Caldwell timeout. It was not the thing to do.The guy screwed up.

I hate Greeny's stupid crush on all things Jet and I've been wanting them to fail since the snuck out a win against the Browns in OT and their fantasy DST screwed me in the playoffs.
so, no - I don't hate Peyton. But you watch that drive before the short FG to bring them within a point and tell me Peyton shouldn't have taken another shot or two.
15 carries for 30 yrds for Rhodes - who was just picked up from the USFL against the #3 run defense in the NFL. why the wasted plays? especially since plays were at a premium.

They wanted to run Rhodes because they thought the Jets would blitz in the game which they did not. So they made poor adjustments.
