ESPN: OTL
I saw this article on ESPN. I can't watch video at work, but I believe the gentleman in this video is wearing an ISU hat. ESPN - OTL: Painkiller misuse numbs NFL pain - E-ticket -
NFL Players/Prescription Drug Abuse Former Cyclone Featured
ESPN just did an Outside the Lines story on a study of former NFL players who abused and continued to abuse prescription drugs.
Former Cyclone and Miami Dolphin TE Dan Johnson is featured in the story, even wearing an Iowa State hat at one point. ESPN - OTL: Painkiller misuse numbs NFL pain - E-ticket I love me some Jethros BBQ!

I just saw this. I'm too young to know he played at Iowa State, but during the interview he was supporting his Cyclones w/ his hat. Saw that and got currious so i looked it up. CW's getting showed up by espn! lol jk. Sounded very emotional Best of wishes to the Former Cyclone Dan Johnson

Not surprising. You hear about so many NFL players who wake up every day with just debilitating pain that they then have to fight through to go work out, or play. When you think injuries, you sometimes think it's just a temporary thing...not something that comes back to haunt you 10, 15 or 20 years down the line. Kinda makes you think about the true price of getting to play professional football.

I'm also too young to remember him, so that made it even cooler when I saw him wearing a Cyclone hat in his interview.

Well said and I agree.
For the record, I have no idea who this guy was either, I had to look him up! Looked like a sad guy.

Re: ESPN: OTL
Just saw a brief clip on sportscenter, its Dan Johnson, former ISU TE. Sad story, about addiction to pain killers.

Re: NFL Players/Prescription Drug Abuse Former Cyclone Featured
glad to see the post. i thought i saw the logo on his black hat. seems like our national exposure is limited to things like 1) this guy, 2) Larry Eustachy blow up vs. MSU, and 3) bad pass vs. Nebraska.

Dan Johnson?
Did a Dan Johnson ever play tight end hear at Iowa State? I just saw a story on ESPN about former NFL players who use pain killers and he was the main person they interviewed. In the interview he was shown wearing an Iowa State hat. Either way it's sad to hear he's using.
Thanks.

You missed that whole "CPR locker room NU" thing? Let alone Seneca's run--if you're going to go back a ways?
Good heavens, I am so sick of all of the "poor, little ol' Iowa State" stuff around here. If you don't give yourself some respect, no one is going to give it to you. "Hey! I'm building something here!"

Re: Dan Johnson?
He played for ISU when Donnie Duncan was the head football coach. He played at the same time John Quinn, Dwayne Crutchfield , and vinnie Cerrato did for ISU. Seems like he was a JC player.

Correct. I'm pretty sure he played for the Dolphins. Don't know if he played anywhere else or not.
No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine. -
