So I am watching PTI and they said Albert wants 10 years 300 million.

1. Is he worth that?
2. Will the Cards pay it?

I hope they give him what he wants, I will not be happy if he leaves my beloved Redbirds.

That figure was first proposed last summer by his agent.
I'm not a Cards fan, but St. Louis made their own bed by electing to pay Matt Holliday the riduculous amount of $17 mil per year. Pujols' demand of $30 mil/year is not out of line when you compare the two...

I would agree with you on the deal Holliday got. I would also agree he is worth it I just dont see how the cards can afford it.

Mauer got 8 years $184 million (23 mill per season). AROD makes $27.5 per season.

I could see him ending up with somewhere around 26-28 per.

A 10 year deal for that much money is a heck of a lot of risk for a ball club to take on.

This. Pujols is definitely worth it if he stays healthy for the majority of those 10 years and his production doesn't fall off a cliff. Unfortunatey those are two BIG ifs, especially with Pujol's recent history of elbow problems. It's not like the Cardinals are the Yankees and can just print more money if Pujols goes down.
