Cutler Took Shot to Play in Second Half
Amid questions that he didn't try hard enough to play through a knee injury, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler received a painkiller shot at halftime of the NFC title game, a source close to the situation told the Sun-Times.
It's believed Cutler injured his knee on the first play of the second quarter, when Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Ryan Pickett landed on his left knee, as he attempted a short pass to running back Matt Forte. Cutler headed to the locker room for halftime ahead of his teammates, and doctors and trainers confirmed their initial, on-field assessment.
It's believed the team planned to shelve him for the remainder of the game, at that point. But that Cutler insisted on trying to play and received a painkiller injection to ease the pain.

Re: Cutler Took Shot to Play in Second Half
The world apologizes to Jay for calling him a wimp. That is truly the fault of Bears management for not addressing the situation better.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Cutler Took Shot to Play in Second Half
I guess I'll give Cutler the benefit of doubt and say that this article is true.
Unfortunately for Cutler whether it's true or not won't change the perception of him.

Re: Cutler Took Shot to Play in Second Half
If indeed true, Cutler needs to fire his PR person. Bears should do the same.
Not that he should have to tell everyone if he took an injection, but as soon as the perception of a quitter started these people should have come to his defense with this ammo.

The fact that this is being reported well after the fact makes it smell fishy. It could be incompetence on the part of the Bears (and Cutler) or it could be a load of BS.
Like I said though, it really doesn't matter what happened now. He's lost a lot of goodwill with the fanbase but if he wins a superbowl all is forgiven.

Re: Cutler Took Shot to Play in Second Half
I think large majority of the fanbase is back behind him for two reasons:
1. Urlacher said all is fine and defended him. 54 has a lot of sway w fans.
2. Cutler is far and away the best qb ever to play for the bears talentwise. If we want to make the super bowl in the next 5 yrs he has to be under center.

Re: Cutler Took Shot to Play in Second Half
Anyone still questioning his toughness looks stupid after all the information that has come out since that game. He clearly wanted to play in the game and did everything he could be ultimately he was hurt and the coaches pulled him.
It's not like he was playing well when he was in the game in the first place, you can still say he chokes under pressure in big games based off his actual performance but to say he quit on the team and wasn't tough is going too far.

Wasn't this Cutler's first winning season since high school?
That being said, I'd take both of them over Chad Henne right now. -
